Ethically sourced from New Zealand, our possum skins are a premium natural product that combines exceptional quality with environmental responsibility. The Australian brushtail possum is an introduced pest species in New Zealand, where it has a significant impact on native forests, wildlife and biodiversity. Harvesting possums for their fur and skins supports ongoing conservation efforts while making use of a valuable natural resource that might otherwise be wasted.
We currently offer three beautiful natural colour variations:
- Grey – A classic silver-grey coat with soft, dense fur.
- Dark Brown (Red) – Rich chocolate and reddish-brown tones with striking natural variation.
- Rusty – Predominantly grey with a distinctive rusty-orange underbelly and edging, making each skin truly unique.
Every possum skin is one of a kind. As with any natural product, each skin will vary in colour, size, markings, shape and overall appearance, giving it its own unique character and ensuring no two are exactly alike.
Standard orders are selected from the next available skin within your chosen colour, rather than by size or grade.
Soft, durable and naturally insulating, our possum skins are suitable for a wide range of uses, including art, craft, education, cultural practice, display, clothing and other creative projects.

A Note on Cultural Respect
Possum skin holds deep cultural significance for many Aboriginal communities across Australia and has been used for countless generations in the making of cloaks, carrying items and other culturally significant objects. Before creating or reproducing a possum-skin cloak or another culturally significant item, seek advice and guidance from the relevant local Aboriginal cultural knowledge holders or Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation. Establish who holds cultural authority for the practice, designs or stories involved, and obtain the guidance and consent required by those rights holders before beginning. Purchasing a skin does not give you cultural authority or permission to reproduce Aboriginal cultural practices, designs or stories.
